DESCRIPTION

The Monticello Central School District is seeking forward thinking and dynamic School Building Principal who can lead MCSD’s highly engaged faculty, staff, parents, students, and community.   The successful candidate will have a vision of educational excellence, be highly motivated and demonstrates an ability to impact student learning.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current New York State administrative certification (SAS, SDA, SBL).
  • 2 years of previous administrative leadership preferred.
  • 3 years of experience as a classroom teacher. (Elementary or Secondary)

PURPOSE

To continuously improve student success and staff development through collaborative leadership and success.

POSTION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Candidates must possess strong communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with proven ability to maintain positive relationships with industry and community partners.
  • Knowledge of child development and effective pedagogical practices.
  • A record of successful experience as a teacher and administrator.
  • Candidate must be highly organized.
  • Commitment to the development of the whole child and believe that all children can learn.
  • Candidate must be flexible, creative, and highly energized.

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Compliance with state and federal laws, board of education policies and regulations and expectations set forth by the superintendent.
  • Supervise and evaluate teaching staff and other building employees in accordance with the district’s policies.
  • Supervise, evaluate, and monitor curriculum offered.
  • Continuously seek workshops and opportunities to grow as the instructional leader in the building.
  • Review and make recommendations to the assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction.
  • Regularly assess the climate of the building and the perspectives of all stakeholders
  • Build a school culture of trust, risk-taking, responsibility, and choice.

 

                                               

The Monticello Central School District is in Sullivan County, NY, centrally located between New York City, Albany, and the Pocono Mountain region.  This provides a rare combination to live in a rural setting and still be close to major metropolitan areas for recreation and work.  Monticello is the largest of the eight county school districts with a multicultural enrollment of approximately 2,700 students.
